iSqFt Further Expands Its Network

iSqFt has announced to its subcontractor customers that it has expanded service to include Columbus and Cleveland, Ohio; Chicago, Illinois; and Frankfurt, Lexington, and Louisville, Kentucky. This expands the company’s penetration in the Midwest region and brings the total number of markets in their network to over 40, including ten metro areas opened in the past year.

What sounds like a fairly simple thing—opening a new market—actually requires several months of research and preparation. “Opening a new market is a massive undertaking for us,” says iSqFt President and CEO Dave Conway. “It means establishing relationships, gathering projects and project documents, and staffing up our support and formatting teams. It’s a pretty big deal.”

Conway isn’t overstating the facts. Simply reaching out to public-project creators, like architects and municipalities, and gathering all the project documentation from a market takes people, time, and effort that only those inside the commercial construction industry could understand. And then there’s the formatting.

“This is something only iSqFt does, but we take these extra steps because our subcontractors tell us it saves them lots of time.” Conway goes on to explain that before getting posted on iSqFt, every document is inspected; given a name that matches the architect’s document title; put in order to match the index sheet; and, if necessary, rotated so it’s easily read. “We do this with every document, every time.”

The company knows it could simply open its (virtual) doors in any market, but Conway feels strongly that preparation is the key. “You wouldn’t open a store without stocking the shelves, would you? To give our customers real value, we have to be ready to offer jobs right off the bat, and provide the best tools and information. That’s a key differentiator for us.”

So is this latest round of market launches a harbinger of things to come? “In a way, yes,” admits Conway. “Rather than opening a region we’re not in yet, we chose to fill out a region that was already really robust. As a result, we can offer even better, even more complete project content for subcontractor customers who straddle markets. This gives us fuller coverage throughout the Midwest, and that’s something we’re always striving for.”

iSqFt has been riding a wave of success after success in recent years, growing rapidly while other companies have downsized, and investing heavily in a new application that won the Constructech Top Products Award.

So what’s next for iSqFt? Conway offers only this: “There’s a reason we’ve grown as much as we have, and as quickly as we have. This is a constantly changing business, and I think we’re very well positioned to change with it and continue giving all of our customers what they need to succeed.”

Today iSqFt operates in over 40 markets across the U.S., with plans to aggressively expand their service areas and their product lines.
