iSqFt has long been committed to helping tomorrow’s construction professionals understand and embrace technology with live demonstrations of its online construction software. On October 10th, iSqFt was honored to be invited to present to a Masters-level class at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.
The class, titled “Technology in Construction,” is headed by adjunct professor Christian Burger, president of Burger Consulting Group, Inc. Interestingly, the students that make up the class are quite diverse—both geographically as well as through work experience. “The class is made up of 12 students from all corners of the world,” says Burger, “and they’ve all come to the program with experience in construction, architecture and engineering. For all their differences, what they all want is to take their careers to the next level.”
One of the things that made the October session particularly unusual was the guest speaker: Henry Purdy, iSqFt’s Vice President of Product Management. “No, this isn’t a normal part of my job,” Purdy says with a laugh, “but I do wish I could do it more often. It’s an enormous privilege to have the chance to show these students what’s available today, the cutting-edge in preconstruction management tools and bid management software, and get their reactions and questions. In some ways, it’s one of the best focus groups around.”
Burger says that he appreciates iSqFt’s commitment to continuing education. “Through sessions like this one, these students are learning about the practical side of the construction business, and seeing how technology like iSqFt construction software can benefit a construction company.” Burger’s class also helps students put systems like iSqFt in context of overall automation in contracting businesses.
