L&W Supply: An iSqFt User Case Study

If you’ve ever had to buy drywall, or gypsum wallboard, you probably know who L&W Supply is. To use their own words, they are “The nation’s largest distributor of gypsum wallboard and building materials,” which actually understates their influence. And in most places in the U.S. you wouldn’t have to go far to buy from one of their many, many branches.

L&W has an incredibly widespread and diverse distributor network

Diversity is a wonderful thing, but it also comes with its own set of challenges. “In a sense, we’ve been a victim of our own success,” says Scott Grieve, Sales Support and Training Manager for L&W. “L&W had standardized policies for Accounting, Human Resources, Safety, Preferred Vendors, etc., but did not have a standard job or lead tracking practice. Each Branch, grouped into Regions, developed their own methods for producing leads and job tracking. Some worked well, but not all.Now we’re making a real effort to unify things, finding the things that work best and trying to get everyone on the same page. That’s what led us to iSqFt.”

A vast majority of iSqFt’s customers use the iSqFt application to gather project information and cultivate new sales opportunities. A few of them export that project information–like project name and location–to an Excel spreadsheet, which is what L&W did until recently.

What’s new now, though, is L&W Supply’s use of the available XML [1] service offered by iSqFt.

“Getting iSqFt’s project information seamlessly integrated into our job tracking system has lots of advantages,” says Scott Grieve, Sales Support and Training Manager for L&W. “Imagine having a system that gives us fast access to the information we care about most – and getting that information through a process that eliminates unnecessary steps.”

L&W Supply is eager to expand this process and see what it can do. But why choose iSqFt? Grieve says his company liked the way iSqFt does business, taking on partners, not clients. “From the sales process to the training and support from dedicated Customer Success Managers, iSqFt works alongside their customers. That was important to us.”

“What L&W is doing is unprecedented on this scale,” says Dave Conway, iSqFt’s President and CEO. “And I love the innovation involved in this. I know that together we’re going to be able to provide L&W’s field personnel with an incredibly powerful sales tool. That’s what this is all about.”

L&W’s new integrated system is already in place and is already making a difference. To learn more about how iSqFt can your company grow, call us today at 800-364-2059800-364-2059.

[1] XML stands for Extensible Markup Language. An XML feed is a “packet” of data that’s exported from the source–iSqFt–into a platform set up to receive and display it, i.e., L&W’s Job Tracker.
